Frequently asked questions

What data are needed for a foreign transfer?

To order a SWIFT or SEPA foreign transfer, in addition to personal and address data, the account number of the recipient in the form of an IBAN number is necessary. Additionally, for SWIFT foreign transfers, the BIC/SWIFT code of the receiving bank is necessary.

Remember that incomplete recipient data may result in the bank not processing the payment and additional costs. It is also worth making sure that the recipient correctly identifies the transfer – in the title of the outgoing transfer you should include information about the sender (e.g. sender’s name, invoice number, order title).

Transfers from InternetowyKantor.pl are sent with the details of Currency One S.A, the operator of the InternetowyKantor.pl. Not all institutions accept payments from third party accounts, so before ordering a transfer, it is worth checking if the payment will be accepted. A problem may occur, for instance, when paying social security contributions or taxes

Why is Currency One the sender of the transfer?

Currency One is the operator of InternetowyKantor.pl, therefore all outgoing transfers are sent on its behalf (it is the sender of the transfer).

How long does a foreign transfer take?

99% of transfers are sent within an hour of transaction confirmation. When the money reaches the recipient depends, among other things, on the currency exchanged, the bank, and the type of transfer selected by you. Detailed information on the processing times for foreign transfers sent via InternetowyKantor.pl can be found here.

What is the required format for a foreign account number?

The required format for a foreign account number is the IBAN or non-IBAN format. It depends on the country where the account is held

For countries using the IBAN format, a bank account number usually consists of the parts:

  • country code (2 letters),
  • checksum (2 digits),
  • kbank and branch code,
  • actual account number.

If the country does not participate in IBAN, then the basic bank account number (BBAN) and additionally the SWIFT and Branch Code should be provided. In InternetowyKantor.pl, under Additional Service Regulations – Extension of the number of countries for outgoing transfers (in Polish) you can make a foreign transfer in the non-IBAN format do 23 countries:

Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, China (including Hong Kong i Makau), India, Indonesia, Japan, Canada, Qatar, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, New Zealand, Paraguay, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Uruguay, Vietnam.

You can add accounts in non-IBAN format as „other recipients” accounts.

SWIFT vs SEPA transfer, how to make one and what is the difference?

Depending on the currency and country, we will send your currency via the SEPA banking system, SWIFT or ELIXIR.

PLN transfers within the territory of Poland are executed in the ELIXIR system

nternational transfers in EUR to the 35 countries of the Single Euro Payments Area are transmitted in SEPA or SEPA Instant.

Transfers in other currencies and a transfer in euro, if it is to be sent to a country outside the SEPA area, will be made in the SWIFT system. On the InternetowyKantor.pl website, our tables show individual prices and processing times for specific types of transfers in the SWIFT system (SPOT, TODAY, TODAY-OUR, SWIFT SHA, SWIFT OUR)

How to make a transfer in euro?

Log in to your account at InternetowyKantor.pl, have the funds exchanged into EUR, selecting the amount you wish to exchange and the recipient of the destination transfer. Add your EUR currency account or that of a third party or a company, completing the details such as: name of recipient, country where the account is registered, address, IBAN account number and select EUR from the list of account currencies.

Select the form of transfer from the options displayed. Depending on the destination bank, the SEPA and SEPA Instant or TODAY options will appear. In the next step, make your selection of the form of funds deposit and submit your order.

Are there free foreign transfers?

At InternetowyKantor.pl, you can make a European foreign transfer for free. This means that you can send the euro to a foreign bank account in one of the 35 countries in the SEPA zone for free. Such a transaction is not subject to any additional fees.

What are the intermediary bank costs, and when are they incurred?

ntrabank transfers in a foreign currency (between two accounts within the same bank) are usually free. Fees may apply to interbank currency transfers.

In a currency transfer to another bank in Poland, only two banks (the sending bank and the receiving bank) are usually involved, and the fees are within the limits specified in the Tables of Fees and Commissions of these banks.

The situation is different in the case of foreign interbank transfers. Intermediary banks (so-called correspondents) may also participate in the process of sending a transfer abroad – then you should expect additional fees from them. Each of the banks participating in a foreign transfer may charge a commission for their intermediary services and each sets the amount of fees independently. Unfortunately, it is not possible to obtain information on the amount of these fees because they are subject to interbank agreements on the mutual provision of services that are not made available to customers. It is also not known how many intermediary banks will participate in a given transaction.

This means that in the case of interbank transfers, especially international transfers, the recipient may receive a transfer less the sum of commissions charged by intermediary banks. It is therefore possible that you send us a certain amount from abroad, and a smaller amount will be credited to the InternetowyKantor.pl account. It is also likely (although much less common) that if you have a foreign currency account with a bank than we do, you will not receive the entire amount of currency purchased from us, as part of the funds will be deducted for correspondent banks’ commissions.

What is the difference between a SEPA and a SEPA Instant transfer?

Both SEPA and SEPA Instant transfers are euro transfers, but they differ in execution time and price.

SEPA stands for Single Euro Payments Area. Under this settlement system, SEPA transfers are made in EUR between European accounts. A SEPA transfer is the cheapest way to send EUR to European foreign accounts. At InternetowyKantor.pl it costs 0 PLN. The execution time of this transfer is usually 1 working day.

However, there is a faster option for euro transfers – SEPA Instant. If the bank of the sender of the transfer and the bank of the recipient make SEPA Instant euro payments, then the recipient will receive the euro funds in a few seconds in his account.  It is an instant transfer, executed even on Sundays and holidays. At InternetowyKantor.pl, this type of transfer costs PLN 20. A SEPA Instant transfer can be ordered up to the amount of EUR 100 000.
