Frequently asked questions

How are transfer fees charged?

All PLN transfers from InternetowyKantor.pl and foreign currency transfers to banks where we have bank accounts in a given currency are free of charge. A SEPA transfer for EUR payouts from InternetowyKantor.pl is also free of charge.

Other foreign currency transfers from InternetowyKantor.pl to banks where we do not have accounts are additionally payable, and the applicable fee is included in the exchange rate.

Example

Let’s assume that you want to buy CHF 555,55 and the current selling rate of CHF in InternetowyKantor.pl is 3,9234.

If we do not have an account with your bank, we add a fee for making a payout according to the transfer type you have chosen, e.g. SPOT for PLN 10.

Calculation:

555,55 × 3,9234 + 10 = 2189,64487

(amount you want to buy) x (current exchange rate) + (transfer type fee) = (amount to be deposited)

rounded, so you transfer PLN 2189,65 to InternetowyKantor.pl.

This will give you CHF 555,55 and the final exchange rate, including the cost of the transfer, will be 3,9414 rounded to four decimal places.

The final rate results from dividing the PLN amount you deposited by the CHF amount you received, i.e 2189,65 ÷ 555,55 = 3,9414.

What is the difference between the SHA and OUR transfer modes?

SHA is a mode in which the costs are shared, i.e. each party (the sender and the recipient of the transfer) covers the costs related to the execution of the transaction in its bank. Transfers sent abroad are additionally charged intermediary bank costs. In this case, the recipient of the transfer receives the amount reduced by their sum.

In the OUR mode, all costs related to the execution of the transaction are covered by the transfer sender. Therefore, the fee for this transfer is higher, but the sender can be sure that the recipient will receive the exact amount that was sent. This option does not apply in the EEA area.

What is a TODAY-OUR transfer?

TODAY-OUR is a type of accelerated transfer. Its cost is PLN 80 and is included in the exchange rate. It is available for transactions in InternetowyKantor.pl in which the payout is to be sent to a country outside the EEA (e.g. EUR to Azerbaijan). This type of transfer guarantees that the recipient will receive the entire amount and the banks will not charge any additional fees along the way – there are no intermediary bank costs. Transfers of this type arrive on the next working day from the moment of payout, at the latest. TODAY-OUR is available only for the following currencies: EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, BGN, CZK, DKK, NOK, SEK and only when the transfer is to be sent outside the EEA.
The cost of a TODAY-OUR transfer at InternetowyKantor.pl is PLN 80 for countries that support IBAN and PLN 100 for non-IBAN countries. A detailed list of countries is listed on the website: https://en.internetowykantor.pl/how-it-works/foreign-transfers/.

What is the cost of a transfer to InternetowyKantor.pl?

Transfers from Polish accounts
In general, internal transfers are free. This means that if you send us funds from one of the banks where we have an account in a given currency, in most cases you should not incur any costs (a known exception is mBank, where such fees may occur).

Sending an external (interbank) transfer, especially a currency transfer, entails fees. The cost is calculated according to the Table of Fees and Commissions of the bank from which the transfer is made. The commission is charged to the sender’s account.

Transfers from foreign accounts

Foreign EUR transfers within the EEA are carried out free of charge as SEPA transfers.

Other currencies are processed as foreign SPOT/SWIFT transfers. Typically, the cost of the transfer depends on the amount sent – charged as a percentage of the transfer amount (e.g. 0.5% of the transfer amount) or there is a fixed fee depending on the amount of the transfer (e.g. transfer up to GBP 5,000 – cost of GBP 10).

Banks often offer the option of express/instant transfers, but these are more expensive than standard currency transfers.

International transfers may be additionally charged with the costs of intermediary banks. In such case, InternetowyKantor.pl will receive the payment reduced by their sum.

Before making a transfer to Poland, check the cost of the transfer in the Table of Fees and Commissions of your bank!

What are intermediary bank costs?

Banks qualify transfers in foreign currencies as foreign transfers. Intrabank transfers (between two accounts with the same bank) are usually free, but there are fees for interbank currency transfers. In the process of sending an interbank currency transfer (apart from the sender’s bank and the recipient’s bank), intermediary banks (also called correspondent banks) are often involved, and additional fees from their side should be expected. If several banks participate in the transaction, each of them may charge a brokerage commission and each determines the amount of fees on its own. Unfortunately, it is not possible to obtain information on the amount of the fees mentioned, because they are subject to interbank agreements on the mutual provision of services that are not made available to customers. It is also not known how many intermediary banks will participate in a given transaction.

In the case of interbank transfers, and especially international ones, it should be taken into account that the recipient may receive the transfer reduced by the sum of commissions charged by intermediary banks. To be sure that there will be no such costs when InternetowyKantor.pl sends the currency to countries outside the EEA, you can choose a TODAY-OUR transfer that provides such a guarantee.

When are intermediary bank costs incurred?

The costs of intermediary banks may apply both to the transfer that you send to InternetowyKantor.pl for the purpose of exchange, as well as in the case when we send back the funds after the exchange. It is therefore possible that you send us a certain amount from abroad, and our account will be credited with a smaller amount. It is also likely (although much less likely) that if you have a foreign currency account with a different bank than we do, you will not receive the full amount of currency purchased from us, as part of the funds will be deducted for correspondent banks’ commissions.

In the case of a currency transfer from InternetowyKantor.pl to a bank in Poland where the service does not have an account, the costs of intermediary banks may occur. This applies to transfers in currencies outside the EEA (USD, GBP, MXN, SGD, AUD, CAD, NZD, ZAR, RUB, TRY). The situation is similar for transfers sent in these currencies within the EEA (e.g. USD transfer to Germany), as well as for transfers in EEA currencies sent outside the EEA (e.g. EUR sent to Azerbaijan).

If you want to send a transfer from InternetowyKantor.pl to a country outside the EEA, you can choose one of 3 transfer types: SPOT, TODAY and TODAY-OUR. By choosing a TODAY-OUR accelerated transfer (PLN 80), you are guaranteed that the recipient will receive the entire amount of the transfer and the banks will not charge any additional fees along the way. The costs of intermediary banks do not apply to TODAY-OUR. When choosing this type of transfer, the money will arrive on the next working day at the latest from the moment of sending the payout. This type of transfer is available only for the following currencies: EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, BGN, CZK, DKK, NOK, SEK and only when the transfer is to be sent outside the EEA.

For EUR transfers within the EEA executed as SEPA, the costs of intermediary banks do not occur. They also do not occur for transfers in the currencies of countries belonging to the EEA, sent within the EEA and in the OUR mode for transfers made outside the EEA.
